Questions and answers

Are spaces counted as characters?

Yes. The character count includes everything you type or paste, including spaces, line breaks and punctuation.

How are words counted?

Any group of characters separated by spaces or line breaks counts as one word, so "e-mail" is one word and "3 PM" is two.

How are sentences counted?

A sentence ends at a period, question mark or exclamation mark. Abbreviations such as "e.g." contain periods, so they can add to the sentence count.
